Day 6 – My new toy

Day 6 – My new toy

Many industries have been affected positively because of the covid situation. Hosting is one of them and bicycle industry is another.

This bicycle boom has paralyzed a lot of production lines, making buying a new bicycle literally a small adventure. The great Japanese company, Shimano holds around 70-80% of the total global bicycle peripherals. This bicycle burst made them unable to be able to cover the demands, making some companies to have 5 or 6 months of delays in their production line.

Putting new sport challenges for the coming year made me start searching for a new bike that could meet the potential of them. And when i start searching for something, i give it a really good look. After some initial disappointment for the great lack of them, and after sending decades of emails, chats and phone calls, i spoke to a guy from a local bicycle market in northern Greece.

– I will have only one bicycle that will propably fit you next week and the next bunch of them will come in best case scenario after mid January.

Same afternoon, i talk with the local dealer and the bicycle is heading to them, so i can acquire it. I must admit, i was waiting for it like a young boy waits his Christmas toy.

The previous week, it must have been here. But, oh boy, the local dealer got infected with Covid and had his market closed all week. Hopefully, no serious symptoms for him, but had to keep the market closed anyway.

Today, he makes me The call.

-The bicycle is ready, come and get it.

I was literally like..

And here it is with a Big Smile, waiting for his new buddy and new adventures.

Tech enthousiast. In love with movement of any kind. Admiring the simplicity and perfection of dogs.

  1. ZOMG! You gotta share some specs bro! I see the disk brakes but I cannot see the drivetrain! Gimme the details yo! Congratulations, I am so excited for you!!!!

  2. Beautiful bike. I’d like to get into biking/cycling. I’d like something that could easily go from trails to gravel roads to pavement. Does such a thing exist?

    1. Thanks Jon!

As long as you are an ultra-runner and i am personally coming from a running background as well (now to triathlon) i can honestly tell you that bicycle will help you a lot in strengthening, building as well as recovery from big trainings in running.

If you want an all around bike for trail, gravel and pavements, you need a mountain bike with suspensions that lock and unlock, so you have them open in trails and gravel and close them when going in the road. Another question would be the type of tyres and how fat they will be, but that depends on where you will spent of your time.
